Xiaomi officially unveil MIUI 10 on May 31, along with Mi 8 Anniversary Edition

Xiaomi is hosting an event on May 31 in Shenzhen where it is widely anticipated to launch the Mi 8 Anniversary Edition smartphone, along with the new Mi Band 3 fitness band. Now, Xiaomi has put up another teaser on Weibo confirming that it will also unveil the MIUI 10 interface at the event.

Xiaomi’s last year’s tagline for MIUI 9 was “as fast as lightning” and this year, the poster reveals a tagline saying MIUI 10 will be “faster than lightning.” If the teaser is anything to go by, the MIUI 10 will offer better performance compared to the MIUI 9. The MIUI 10 is expected to be based on Android 5.0 Lollipop to Android 8.1 Oreo for different devices, GizmoChina reports.

There is no word on the new features that MIUI 10 will offer. But it’s high time Xiaomi needs to overhaul the UI as it has been using the same one for the past three years. We expect MIUI 10 to come with new preloaded themes, revamped Settings app and notification panel.

Xiaomi is also expected to pack in a lot of Artificial Intelligence into the new interface for battery saving, and to also adjust things as per user behavior.

In China, Xiaomi has its own AI-assistant Xiao which comes out-of-the-box with the Mi MIX 2S, and with the MIUI 10, the Chinese smartphone maker could take make the assistant global. However, the complete rollout might not happen before the year-end The MIUI 10 could initially rollout to the Mi MIX 2, Mi MIX 2S and Mi 6, followed by the Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi 6X and others.
